Recycling blades, sometimes called chipper blades, are used to recycle most every material chemically known to man. This is a cutting process involving a square cage rotary motion, which reduces or chips any material to a smaller size, so that it can be processed further. The material of these blades is generally of a shock resistance nature that will minimize the risk of blade breakage and therefore serious damage to the recycling machine itself, if one of the rapidly spinning blades breaks. Recycling blades are typically manufactured from a special material, known as chipper knife material, which is specifically engineered to resist breaking during the cutting process. Other materials can be used, but care must be taken in the heat treatment to insure minimal risk of breakage.
